Handmade Chaleshtor carpet is one of the most important handicrafts made in the Iranian province of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari.  

The carpet is made in a city named Chaleshtor and is exported to other countries. Almost all the women of Chaleshtor know the art of weaving. It seems these women and girls are born with the art. They weave as if they are singing the patterns, the symbols and the colors to the loom.

From the old times, all the stages of making a carpet from weaving the wool to making the carpet was done by women but nowadays men are participating in providing the material and women do the magic of weaving the precious gems.

The unique patterns, colors and durability of Chaleshtor carpet makes it one of the most favorable rugs in Germany.

Today, not only Chaleshtor but almost all parts of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province are weaving the carpet.
